EDGAR | NORTHAMPTONSHIRE DOG PHOTOGRAPHY
It’s not every day you meet a famous poet! Okay, so maybe I didn’t meet a famous poet, but I did get to hang out with an absolutely gorgeous German Shepherd by the name of Edgar Allan Poe. And it had been a long time coming – Edgar’s mum had won a session with me back in January 2016! But, with both of us being the busy bees that we are, we didn’t actually manage to squeeze in a session until February this year. It was worth the wait though!
We met on a chilly afternoon, but the sun was streaming through the trees, illuminating every breath and transforming the winter leaves into a twinkling mass of colour as we wandered and explored. I can’t even begin to tell you how much of a good boy Edgar was, sitting patiently wherever we asked him – he even treated us to a very impressive heelwork display (and also, check out that adorable head tilt!). And his gentle nature and good behaviour aren’t Edgar’s only superpowers, as he’s also something of an ‘unofficial’ assistance dog to his mum, Lucy. Lucy has Asperger’s Syndrome and had also suffered with Agoraphobia for years, before she found Edgar. She has an awesome blog and I’d highly recommend reading the story of how Edgar came into her life – just click here (warning: if you’re anything like me, you’ll need a tissue handy!).
These guys are inseparable, and it shows. In her own words ‘Logic brought me Edgar, but Edgar brought me love, humanity, understanding and friendship. He’s made me feel brave enough to enter the world of humans. He is my lifeline‘.
